BEVERLY A. (OBLAD-MIKESELL) HANKS-GOWAN 1926-2009 Beverly A. (Oblad-Mikesell) Hanks-Gowans, 82, died Friday, August 14th, 2009. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church, 1925 Broadway Ave in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday, August 18th at 11 a.m. with a viewing available an hour prior to service. Beverly was born to Ada Parry and Frederick J. Oblad in Salt Lake City, Utah on Oct. 6, 1926. She was raised by her loving mother and step-father, Roy Mikesell. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City and began working as a soda fountain girl. When a handsome sailor, home on leave during World War II, asked her to make him a pineapple milkshake, she had met her future husband, the late Robert "Jack" Hanks. They were married June 6, 1946 and raised 6 children. A convert to the LDS Church at the age of 15, she served through the years in many auxiliaries. Beverly graduated from the S.L.C. College of Medical Technology, and worked for the U of U Medical Center for many years. Beverly loved nursing, but her primary passion was children. She donated countless hours working with exceptional children with cerebral palsy through the Salt Lake Jaycees Auxiliary. She belonged to the Salt Lake County Horse Club and the Silver Spurs horse drill squad. Her hobbies included bowling, dancing and teaching the hula as well as square dancing. After raising six children, she pursued her education at Cal State Fullerton in Early Childhood Development. In 1993, she moved to Boise, Idaho, and attended many singles activities of the LDS Church, where she met and fell in love with her current husband Stuart Gowans. She and Stuart were the cheerful greeters at the Broadway chapel, and were married for almost 13 years. She was active in the AARP and was Captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Beverly found joy in the simplest of pleasures: A visit from a grandchild, a phone call, a hug, a package in the mail. She treasured each holiday and many looked forward to her homemade divinity and fudge or her famous deviled eggs. She is survived by her six children, Monte Hanks, Linda Brown, Barbara Kennedy, Rebecca Robison, Blair Hanks and Jill Hanks, and three step children, Ann Beach, Amy Wortham and Andrew Gowans. Her devotion as a mother did not end after her children were grown. She spent many happy years influencing the lives of her 23 grand children and 16 great grandchildren and enjoyed personal relationships with each one. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Stephenson Family Reunion 2010

While the reunion is not quite right around the corner, we are only 15 months out...it's coming quickly!

There are a few changes...nothing big...but things you do need to know!

Here is what we're looking at:

Date: June 18-20, 2010
Place: Alpine Meadows in the San Bernadino Mountains of Southern California
Who: Whole Stephenson Clan!
Cost: Deposit is NOW DUE - - $25/person for the weekend. (The final amount due will depend
on the amount of people planning to attend. This includes the premium for a required insurance
policy. (Shouldn’t end up being more than a few additional bucks per person.)
Balance is due 3 months prior - March 18, 2010. (This is a change) This will give us enough time to
collect the money and have it to Alpine Meadows by their 2 week prior deadline.

*Remember kids 3 and under are free*

Jack Anderson Jack Anderson, 83, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at The Willows in Blackfoot. He was born April 4, 1925 in Weiser, Idaho the son of Ross William and Josephine Stanford Gwilliam Anderson. He graduated from Boise High School. Jack served in the Air Force during World War II. On May 20, 1945, he married Roma K. Anderson in Carlsbad, N.M. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 2, 1945. She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 2008. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Because of his physical limitations he was unable to do a lot, but was the secretary of his priesthood quorum for many years and a faithful home teacher, loved by all who knew him. He volunteered at the Department of Veteran Affairs for 17 years, giving 8, 290 hours of service. Jack worked as a bookkeeper at Albertson's Ice Cream Plant. He enjoyed doing puzzles, many of which are mounted and framed on family members walls. He also enjoyed bowling from his wheelchair and collecting coins and stamps. He is survived by his children, Richard William Anderson of Auburn, Wash., James Stephen Anderson of Shelley, Thomas Jack Anderson of Boise, Idaho, and Kaye A. Jensen of Blackfoot; sister, Dorothy Anderson of Meridian, Idaho; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert G. Anderson. A funeral service will be held 12 noon Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at Meridian 8th Ward, 11443 W. McMillan Rd, Meridian, Idaho. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memorial Garden in Meridian, Idaho under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.

Roma Kershaw Anderson Roma Kershaw Anderson, 83, of Blackfoot, Idaho formerly of Boise, Idaho passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at The Willows in Blackfoot, Idaho She was born April 30, 1925 in Wendall, Idaho the daughter of Archi Guy Stephenson and Beatrice Kershaw Stephenson. She graduated from Boise High School. On May 20, 1945, she married Jack Anderson in Carlsbad, N.M. where he was stationed in the Air Force. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a teacher in every auxiliary. Roma was a secretary for Albertsons, but her most accomplished career was that of wife and mother. She was an accomplished artist and poet. She was a best friend and confident to her children and will be missed more than words can express. She is survived by husband, Jack of Blackfoot; sons, Richard William Anderson of Washington, James Stephen Anderson of Shelley, Idaho, Thomas Jack Anderson of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Kaye (Dennis) Jensen of Blackfoot, Idaho; sister, Sheila (Arden) Rasmussen of Preston, Idaho; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Archie; sisters, Elaine Gowan and Maxine Cox. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Meridian 8th Ward LDS Chapel, located at 11443 W. McMillan Road, with Bishop Dellas Fredericksen conducting. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise, Idaho 83706 and from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday prior to the services. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Arrangements in Blackfoot were under the direction of the Hawker Funeral Home. Funeral services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.

The Cox Family has been busy with the plans for our next reunion.

Here are the details - - -

Reservations have been made for the weekend of June 18-20, 2010.
Kids under 3 are free – for those that are thinking of having more, get going!!!
The deposit is due now - $25/person for the weekend, balance due 2 weeks before the reunion.
Total cost will include the premium for a required insurance policy, cost per person will be calculated once we have an accurate attendance count (shouldn’t end up being more than a few bucks per person).
